Great Buy!

people who would attenpt to buy this book might question the author, they would ask.. For someone who has been trading for 20yrs why does he concentrate on just moving averages, RSI and MACD?? that is the beauty of the book, it shows that lesser indicators and a firm and disciplined trading plan by following your signals (not emotions) can go a long way. Steve has got it right. Buy this book together with the calm trader and the 39 most powerful stock market rules and you are good to go!

This has to be this easiest, simplest description of moving averages I have read. Steve does a great job at showing and telling you what they do and how to trade them, and also in conjunction with indicators. I read a lot of books and though I already knew about the moving averages, I still feel I learned more than I knew.

One of the Best of 2011

This is Larkin Rose's fifth novel. In this book, she introduces the reader to fashion designer Eve Harris, a driven workaholic at the top of the fashion ladder with no time for dating and romance. She gets physical relief using a British phone sex operator named Lexi.

Also introduced is Jodi Connelly, a very successful paid escort who was once a phone sex operator but has pared her phone sex client list down to a special three, one of whom is Eve.

Both women are obsessed with the other without ever having met in person and neither has any interest in meeting in person because they are certain they will be disappointed with reality. The chances of meeting are slim to none because Eve lives in New York City and Jody lives in London. Little do they know that they would, indeed, meet. Neither could possibly foretell the cataclysmic effects their meeting will have on their carefully controlled lives.

Rose has written a book that no reader will be able to easily put down. This is a tightly woven story so well written that there's not single misstep. From start to finish, the story moves quickly forward. In the hands of a lesser writer, this story could very well have become trite. Larkin's sure hand makes this a compelling story of two women looking for the same thing.

There is one caveat, though. The intimate meetings between Eve and Jody are explicit. If you prefer the details of sexual meetings to be hinted at rather then drawn in vivid detail, this is not the book for you.

Ridiculous... but fun

So this is the kind of book you don’t want to get caught reading.

Random stranger on BART: “Oh, that book looks fun, what’s it about?”

Me: “Um… it’s a romance... about a woman in love with a phone sex operator.”

No. Seriously… No. I’m not explaining that to anybody. It’s like a Ho-Ho. Those damn things are delicious. But you don’t want anyone to see you eat it.

So this book was fun. I think it’s the fluffiest book I’ve ever read, but it’s still fun. Nothing more.

This is the first book I've read by Larkin Rose and I was so satisfied (very much so), I've read all the rest.

The chemistry between these two women is electric! One has a secret which will be her undoing, but can that be changed? Their relationship is much more complex than I would expect from a matinee romance novel. I loved hearing Jodi's continuous inner monologue which presents a completely different woman than the hardened, cool escort that she presents to the world.

Let's just get it out of the way: The Sex scenes are as HOT as they get. If you are looking for a quick, erotic read then you can't go wrong with this.

Great photo reference for Griswold Collectors

I'm just getting started collecting Griswold cast iron, and I bought this guide recently because I wanted some sort of reference point for assessing cast iron at auctions, flea markets, antique malls, etc. I'm not a dealer, and (so far, anyway) I don't purchase or sell any cast iron on-line.

I really like this guide, since it's descriptive, inclusive, and has photos and illustrations which are more than sufficient for determining what you're looking at when you're standing over the vendor's table. The major complaint that I've read about this guide is that the prices haven't been updated. That's true - it says right in the front of the book that the prices were gathered in 1995, even though this is the fifth edition and has supposedly been revised a few times since. But, I get the impression from what I'm seeing in the marketplace that, whether due to this book itself or due to the market for cast iron, the prices quoted are still fairly accurate for most pieces. At any rate, it still serves as a great relative pricing guide, to tell you how the various pieces compare to each other. People have said that the prices quoted in here are not reflective of on-line auctions for cast iron, though whether they're generally lower or generally higher, I don't know. Since I'm not buying or selling on-line, I can't really comment, but I do know that on-line bidders have a tendency to go haywire sometimes. These seem to me to be accurate prices for antique malls or flea markets, though. A few people have complained about the quality of the photos, but I think that this is a baseless complaint, since the photos and illustrations are very clear and easily sufficient to distinguish one piece from another. The authors even show a few select counterfeits, and do a side-by-side comparison of the genuine piece versus the counterfeit. They also included a nice informative blurb about the history of each company which is represented in this guide, and a list of part numbers for each line which is invaluable if you're trying to tell just what it is you're looking at. I wish I could give it four and a half stars - it deserves the extra half. I'd give it a fifth star if they'd put a little more effort into detailing some of the diagnostic features typical to pans of a specific vintage - I'm still a little in the dark about just which handle is the "old handle" and which handle is the "new handle," given that I've seen at least four or five handle styles on these pans, and I'd like to know a bit more about some of the skillets which were manufactured by Griswold but don't say "Griswold." such as Victors and Puritans, etc. The authors do give full pricing and photograhic information for those makes, but they don't really give any information about why they exist or why they don't say "Griswold" on them.

By the way, this review is mostly focused on Griswold. I don't collect Wagner, Favorite, Sidney Hollow-ware, or Wapak. On the whole, I would say that even though I don't collect these brands, this is a very good guide for Wagner as well, and an alright guide for the other three brands. Favorite, Sidney Hollow-ware, and Wapak don't get nearly the attention that Griswold and Wagner get in this book, but I get the impression that those companies weren't as successful and didn't have quite the diversity of products in the first place that Griswold or Wagner did.

I have been a serious collector of cast iron skillets, particularly Griswold for a number of years. This is the best resource book that I have found. It helps me to know which items are more rare thus worth more. I am delighted to own it.

Excellent book

I am not new at collecting cast iron but i did not have any reference material to refer to until i bought this book. I was not interested in selling, just in buying at garage sales, etc. This book is excellent as far as i am concerned. True, everything that Griswold and Wagner made is not pictured or referenced in the book but it sure gives a good idea of what era and their price for a lot of their products. I don't have much experience with pricing, i have read other reviews that say the values in the book is not correct as compared to prices on the internet. Well, you can look on the internet and compare if you like and adjust the value, but the book gives a good idea of a particular pan made by one manufacturer compared to the same pan made by the other. It has helped me get an idea of value and if i want to sell something i can look on the internet and get an idea of the prices there compared to the book and extrapolate a price that is pretty close to what i have. If someone knows of a better book let us know. I purchased it from Amazon and it came in 4 days and in excellent condition.

Though there are a few photographs, readers who buy cookbooks for full-color photographs and personal anecdotes aren't likely to be drawn to this work. Twenty-two chapters cover appetizers to desserts. Even the simplest tasks, such as blanching vegetables or peeling an egg, are explained and illustrated in detail. More involved techniques include brining poultry and roasting a turkey. Pad Thai gets a full-page description with photographs to help home cooks learn how to properly soak the noodles. Simply the Best

This is a great cookbook for someone who has cooked a while. It is just like the title says, each recipe is the best. HOWEVER, they aren't necessarily the easiest, or quickest. This is where it could be a little overwhelming for a new cook.
If you like cookbooks that have lots of photos, this is not your cookbook.
If you like cookbooks that have 5 ingredients or less, this is not your cookbook.
If you like cookbooks that take less than 20 minutes to make a meal, this is not your cookbook.
If you have basic cooking skills and want to impress your mother-in-law when she comes to dinner, this IS your cookbook. Whenever I want to impress someone with my cooking skills, this is the book I pull out.

OMGoodness, I LOVE this book! It has all the recipes I've been looking for in past magazine subscriptions. I love that the cooks explain why recipes work and how each ingredient has an impact on the outcome. It's helped me to really understand how certain ingredients interact with other ingredients. So far, every recipe I've made has turned perfectly, and I REALLY LOVE that!!! This book has become my "go to" recipe book now.

This cookbook is my favorite. It has about a gazillion recipes in it, and with each one they explain the process they used to test different recipes and why they made decisions to use certain ingredients over others. This leaves you room to experiment if you want to.

Throughout the course of his extremely successful career, Horatio Alger rarely deviated from his traditional framework for his stories - until this one. Adrift In New York tells the story of a girl, struggling against the offer of a bigamous marriage and subsequently cast out by her guardian, and a boy, who discovers for the first time in his life that there is more to life than stealing and dishonesty. It is a wonderfully moral, yet at the same time superbly entertaining story, and one worth paying any amount to read.

This companion volume to Freeman's Building Your Own Greenhouse (Stackpole, 1997) explains how to raise plants in a home greenhouse. Freeman, who designed and built his own greenhouse, begins with chapters on types of greenhouses, equipment, soil, air, water, heat, light, pests, and diseases. The rest of the book covers growing seedlings for transplanting into the outdoor garden and raising vegetables and herbs in the greenhouse. Freeman lists vegetable, flower, and herb species suitable for growing to maturity in a greenhouse. He also touches on growing houseplants and cut flowers, but specialty plants like orchids and African violets are beyond the scope of the book. Okay, I am new to gardening. If I want to learn about something new, I read a bunch of books on the subject before I begin. So after reading over a dozen books on vegetables, herbs, gardening, seed saving and botany, I got Mark Freeman's "Gardening in your Greenhouse." It answered all the questions that had been on my mind and gave me advice I didn't realize I needed until after I read it. I provided me with the information and confidence I needed to start planting all those seeds I had bought. A great reference for the novice and experienced gardener.

Most books on Greenhouse Gardening focus on the building of the greenhouse itself and don't spend enough time talking about the gardening process. This is a great book for a person who moves into a new home and already has a greenhouse. This book is an excellent education in greenhouse gardening.

Best ever book written about sausages and cured meat

This is the best.
If you want to buy one book about sausages,this is the one ,believe me you do not need any other.
It made me understand clearly the magic of sausage making,
I can from now on formulate my own sausages because now i know quite well the science behind.
Until now i made the following sausages :-
1-Kosher beef sausage
2-Liver pate sausage
3-Mortadella di bologna
4-Mortadella lyoner
Taste ,texture and aroma are out of this world especially if you allow them to mature for 2 or 3 days in the fridge before you consume them.
Honestly they are better than the ones that i use to buy from the deli.
For me no more buying from the shops.
Page 153 and 154 alone worth the price of this book because they simply provide you with the secret of making better than the shops sausages
Large variety of sausages as an example fresh sausages ,cooked sausages,emulsified sausages,boiled sausages,liver sausages ,head cheeses and meat jelies,fermented sausages and for the first time ever in any book that i read and owned a full chapter on kosher sausages (special sausages)

Out of the park! best book on Charcuterie written to date

Yes, I've read Ruhlman's "Charcuterie" (poor IMO) and Jane Grigson's "Charcuterie & French Pork Cookery" & Kuta's "great Sausage Recipes and meat curing" However...for Charcuterie, nothing touches this.

This is book is NOT about fresh sausage or Duck Confit(Ruhlman)This book is about:

CHARCUTERIE dried, smoked, cured, brined & jellied!!!

A good section on meat science (I think possibly lifted from Forrest's "Principles of Meat Science"? LOL)it covers all of the areas I mentioned above...for novice or advanced (I make 6 - 12 different types of salamis, loins, butts, hams & bacons every year).

If you are interested specifically in making salamis then their other book "The art of making Fermented Sausages" has more recipes, but the rest of that material is covered in this book as well.

If you want make Charcuterie, this is THE definitive book printed to date. Thanks again guys.

Just one look at the cover and one realizes that they didn't put much time or money in the Graphic Design portion of the book. Why? They were too busy giving you a bibles worth of information on a tricky subject that is not well defined in the pantheon of cooking books.

This book suffers from a few grammatical errors here and there, and a couple anomalies in the way they present multiple amounts in a few of the recipes. Why? Because these are sausage makers that have turned book writers because they want to share their enormous wealth of information.

This isn't a beautiful book with glossy pictures and sharp writing. This isn't a book for your coffee table. This is a book to push you to become an expert sausage maker. And it's amazing. I love all kinds of cookbooks - but the kind I love the most are the ones that teach me new methods to make amazing food. And this was the best 15 bucks I've ever spent on a cookbook.

Note: All the recipes that put meat through dangerous conditions (ie. botulism loving conditions) use nitrates. They talk a lot about nitrates and don't give ways to avoid nitrates, so if that's what you're looking for steer clear. But it's understandable - cured and cold smoked sausages used to cause a large percentage of fatal food poisoning cases around the world, but nitrates have made them very safe. But there are plenty of recipes without nitrates and there is such good detail in the techniques that you can use the information to change certain techniques of recipes to avoid nitrates - like say, avoiding smoking sausages in the botulism danger range so that you dont need the nitrates. This will affect the taste though. In other words even if you are aiming for the non-nitrate route this book is SUPER helpful.
