not a fan of the recorded lip-synching thing and we're fortunate to have a top notch accompanist

We did this today in church- very well received! This is the 4th or 5th "Instant" pageant we have done. They each tell the timeless story in a new way and are light hearted enough to keep the children engaged.
We do not use the CD at all, not a fan of the recorded lip-synching thing and we're fortunate to have a top notch accompanist. It's not "instant" but we do manage to do it with 3 hour long rehearsals (with alot of encouragement to practice lines at home.) I also let children have notecards (hidden if possible) with their lines if they need them. Rarely do, but makes them less stressed= good.
This particular pageant worked exceptionally well for those without alot of rehearsal time. Because it's a court scene, there are very logical places and cues for most characters. (Eg the witnesses come up when they are told to come up.) The nonspeaking parts are a little trickier, but we put an older teen or parent with them to know when to go.
Secondly, again because it's a courtroom, it makes perfect sense for your main characters (attorneys, judge) to have papers over the table- can include scripts. We had one shepherd not sure of his lines- we taped his to the side of a large stuffed lamb he carried to the witness stand!
We did drop most of the songs- they seemed to break up the flow of the story too much. The children sang Joy to the World at the end. Our pianist played Silent Night, We Three Kings, etc as background as those characters came in.Worked very well.

A fun little musical for Christmas Eve

A fun little musical for Christmas Eve. We used teen and preteen actors for speaking parts, which they memorized and rehearsed in weeks preceding, and then included younger children who showed up for the service as lambs, angels, and shepherds guided by older kids. Adults got a lot out of the message and loved watching it. Well-written and with some good laughs. We loved included the congregation in singing the carols.

Perfect for our smallish Sunday School

Perfect for our smallish Sunday School. We did not use the CD....but, as it's a trial - we could easily have the kids read their script from the pulpit and lectern without it being very noticeable. The Prosecutor and Defence Lawyer were at a table with a hand microphone to share.
Worked great! We had the congregation do most of the singing and then, kids who were interested did solos.

About the Author
Julia Johnson divides her time between Dubai and an old water mill in Worcestershire, England. A thirst for adventure took Julia and her architect husband Brian to Dubai in 1975, where she soon became a familiar face reading children’s stories on Dubai Channel 33, subsequently appearing in BBC Television and Radio productions in the UK. She has toured schools in the Emirates and the UK in Theatre-in-Education productions, acted in several stage plays and recorded over 100 audio books. Since 2001 she has been writing stories for children. The Pearl Diver is recommended by the Hamilton Trust, an online resource provider for schools. The Leopard Boy was awarded a Kirkus star in America, and was endorsed by former UK Children’s Book Laureate and award-winning author, Michael Morpurgo. The Turtle Secret was the winner of the Best International Children’s Book Award at the Sharjah International Book Fair 2014. Julia loves to write stories about the rich and colourful heritage of the Arabian Gulf and Oman, and she tours the region giving talks and workshops. She also visits schools in the UK, and is a regular speaker at the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature.

Emily Styles was born in Dubai and thoroughly enjoyed growing up there. She now lives in Hertfordshire, England with her family. Being creative is a passion and Emily retreats to her old cow shed studio to “work” whenever possible!

Henry Bieler Saved My Life!

This book, and the doctor who wrote it, saved my life. When I was 20, I was dying of SLE. I was taking 60 mg of prednisone, I had pericariditis, bi-lateral lung effusions and of my body was wracked with pain! But then I met Henry Bieler, MD, and I used his techniques to heal. I changed my died completely and followed his advice. The book seems somewhat "old fashioned" now, but Henry Bieler was born in the late 1800s, and I think he died in 1971, at 93 in a mountain climbing accident! What a way to go! What he said in 1965 is still valid!

Let's get back to Eden!

We desperately need more books like this. In an era when our pharmaceutical companies, Public health agencies, medical establishment continue herding us to ingest synthetic, experimental and toxic "medicines" we need to be reminded that what drives those systems is simply greed, not an authentic drive to heal (so every year we must endure "walks" and "marches" to "cure" this or that). Most of "health care" is in essence guess work and allegiance to flawed theories about the real causes of illness. Doctors are not educated as to the link between nutrition and repair and/or restoration. Their instincts have been trained out of them reducing them to being glorified "drug dealers."

God endowed nature with all the necessary ingredients to help our bodies heal themselves. The obsessive and fruitless "virus hunting" and microbe blaming has not brought us any closer to resolution or eradication of diseases (and please don't believe the "vaccine" hype!). Until the common people learn to take charge of their health, we will continue being exploited via these fear based "health care" messages. Diseases are caused by disruptions in the body due to dehydration, malnutrition, environmental toxins (ask those polio and bladder cancer victims forced to inhale carcinogenic fumes, etc.), stress, poor hygiene, substance abuse, etc. all immune suppressing conditions alone or in combination.

Then we have to contend with the likes of Monsanto who once again pretend to care about "food" production when it's really about filling their deep pockets. We've been duped for way too long. Too many die from preventable diseases, unnecessary procedures and health care professionals clueless as to how the body actually works. It's so bad that they gave it a name: Iatrogenesis....after all is said and done our health care professionals (doctors especially) are still "practicing" medicine!

After the doctor telling him, he would not live to see 35, he bought this book. HE LIVED TO BE 90YRS OF AGE!

Great Lessons

A friend asked if I would give her young daughters (ages 5 and 9) vocal lessons. I am very musical but not trained in music education, so it was important to me to find a program that could walk me though teaching voice. This book was a great help! The lessons are fun and teach key components of singing such as correct posture, correct breathing, matching pitch, etc. It uses physical movements to help teach the concepts. The free downloadable CD tracks were also very helpful. I highly recommend this product.

a valuable resource for teaching very young children to sing!

As a voice teacher I can highly recommend this and the next book in the series. This resource is very valuable for little children( age 4 and up) who want to sing but have undeveloped ear. Exercises in this book are geared towards developing good breathing techniques, overall intonation, (matching tones sung by by teacher, exploring the range of the kids voices). Mister Blankenbehler, please, we need a book like these for the teens!
